Johnson Shut-Ins

Splash!

For this shoot I spent a couple hours rigging up an 'at home' set up. I took a standard sized baking pan filled it about 3/4 full of water, then I hung a bag from the ceiling that was full of water. I poked a tiny hole in the bag with a safety pin and let the water drip steadily. Also, I used to extender cord for my external flash so I could use it detached from my camera, and set it on a box right next to the pan of water. I aimed the flash towards a colored piece of paper set up behind the pan so whenever I fired my shutter, the flash went off and reflected the paper creating the colors in the water. To get my focus, I waited until the water was dripping steadily in one place and stuck a pin there and manually focused on it. I kept my aperture at f/8 and my shutter speed at 1/250 for every shot and luckily, a lot of them turned out nicely. Here are a few that I favored the most of the 300 or so shots that I've taken for this subject all together.
